Bio

Hello! I'm Kevin/Kev, known online as LyCH_OS (Greek:/λύκος/ IPA:/lý.kos/ˈly.kos/ˈli.kos/) - (yes people say it wrong all the time lol. tbf it's spelled weird on purpose so w/e).

I'm a game & tech enthusiast and (very) small-time content creator on YouTube, Twitch, and Kick, and I love atypical and surreal or even dark genres. My favourite games are typically immersive sims, detective/investigation, rhythm games, fps, racing, or horror games (not in that order), though I play pretty much everything.

Usually if I have favourites, they're separated into multiple categories cause I don't have singular favourites. That goes for games, food, movies, etc.

Just as an example, my favourite Rhythm game is 'Osu!', and my favourite Immersive Sim is 'S.T.A.L.K.E.R' (probably Anomaly specifically, haven't had a chance to play 2 cause of previous performance issues on release).

My primary (and favourite) OS is Linux, with my current main distro being CachyOS. I use KDE Wayland as my environment, and the only shell I like is Bash, at least for now. Zsh and Fish are kind of annoying to work with.

I'm a late-90's-early-2000's kid, mainly raised on 80's stuff like CRTs, floppy disks, Atari + Genesis/Megadrive + SNES, etc. The first game I played was Super Mario Kart, but my first personally-owned console was a bundled PSOne (not the og box; the slim curvy white one) with Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and The Emperor's New Groove, as well as a DualShock analogue controller and an 8mb memory card. I would later delve into Syphon Filter 2 & 3, Final Fantasy 7 & 9, Spawn (it was jank), Resident Evil: DX, Gran Turismo 2, Twisted Metal 2 & 4, and Crash Team Racing. (not sure if i'm missing anything)

My first time playing an FPS was an uncommon one: I played Half-Life (og) on Dreamcast with southpaw controls. It was weird, but it sparked my interest in shooters, as well as more odd genres that touch on the ethereal, sci-fi, eldritch or surreal concepts. I also played Unreal Tournament around that time, and eventually was introduced to Crazy Taxi 1 & 2, a JP Gundam game (idk what it's called, was entirely in Japanese), and probably others I've forgotten.

Some time before, I played Red Faction on PS2 with my brother. That later influenced my decision to get a PS2 slim (should've gotten the fat) where I played Red Faction myself, SSX Tricky, ChoroQ, Dark Cloud 1 & 2 (especially 2 holy shit), Twisted Metal Black, Kingdom Hearts and a bunch of other cool shit. Most of my early gaming came from that.

Fast forward, and eventually I tried PC games, which completely shifted my gamer brain. I played Battlefield 2142 first (the last good one imo), eventually Medal of Honor AA, I tried World of Warcraft (mid), played Guild Wars (the og, with i think Factions or another expansion), and eventually discovered not only the Orange Box, but all of Steam because of it. That final one is what hit the nail and made me love PC gaming.
